Week 4
CATS. That's really the most important thing about me. Second most important, I started embroidering at the end of December 2011 and I haven't stopped yet. im no good at people
You often depict hospital scenes in your illustration work! Why is that?
It’s because my dad has been in and out of hospitals a lot so I usually do some observation drawing of him or the hospital room while I’m visiting. Since my sketchbook has a bunch of that stuff in it, when I flip through my sketchbook for ideas, I end up using those for some finished pieces (i.e. recent drawmachine stuff and my first etching from spring semester) He’s doing okay now though so they’re not too sad to draw!

but then i look at them and remember how beautiful they are
I have adored the mini still-life paintings of Carol Marine for a while now. I love how confidently she uses thick paint with simple strokes in vibrant colors, making her paintings look so wet and juicy. You can see more of her work on her blog here; she makes a painting almost every day.
